Small town boy, Greg Michaels, is no stranger to the stage and no stranger to writing hooky country songs. What started as a college hobby of singing and learning the guitar, quickly turned into 600+ shows(full band & acoustic) on various stages around Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa, and opening shows for some big name national acts. He has been showcased on television, self-penned a country radio song, and performed on the Bluebird Cafe stage in Nashville, TN. He has a nationally released EP called 'Blue Jean Backroad Dreamin'.
Greg grew up with family values, hard work, and country music in Eden Valley, a small farming community of less than a thousand people in central Minnesota. His country music obsession and work ethic landed him opening shows for Colt Ford, Jamey Johnson, Emerson Drive, Little Texas, Trent Willmon, and most recently the Josh Abbott Band.
Greg began moving away from the “cover band” feel , and he put all his direction into the singer-songwriter performer side of the business. His professional show, where he performs with a 5-piece band has opened doors and excitement along the way. He fortunately gained a performing spot at the 20th Anniversary Winstock Country Music Fest in 2013 (Winsted, MN). His EP 'Blue Jean Backroad Dreamin' had over 1,000 digital and physical copy sales in the first few months of the release in 2014. His song “My Shotgun Baby” has been played on BOB106 Twin Cities. Greg has recently spent time in Nashville songwriting and networking. Now back in MN, Greg is finishing up his first full album slated for a 2017 release. The album will showcase some of his best songwriting and a transformed sound!
His love of traditional/90's/current and cowboy country melts together on his upcoming album. His work encompasses feel good “county fair country” style tunes, mingled with deeper rooted cuts. For example, “Two Step,” is a traditional styled song, which he performed at the Bluebird Cafe last year. This performance earned him notoriety as a songwriter.
